Grand opening of “Kasom Janrei” — an indigenous eatery outlet at Kasom Phungdhar, Ukhrul was held today. W Kasomwo opened the outlet to the public.

It is said that Kasomwo walked only on wide roads and welcomed every traveller to his home to eat and rest. And the name “Kasom Janrei” is based on this story. “Janrei which means broadway and it also has been referred to the visits of the travellers expecting good food and great rest” stated the proprietors.

The eatery outlet is a joint venture by Haomei Kasomwoshi and Thotchui Dominic Khansu, young entrepreneurs from Ukhrul. The outlet situated along the National Higway 102A at Kasom Phungdhar, Ukhrul will be open to visitors on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday only.

“Our idea is to promote Tangkhul Naga Cuisine and an outing space for travellers visiting Ukhrul District. Ukhrul Headquarters is a small town. One can cover it in a couple of hours. This place would host those tourists who are adventurous and dare to eat and rest like Tangkhul Naga. We will provide the taste of Tangkhul Naga cuisine, including Khor – an indigenous drink made from sticky rice, which is prepared without artificial chemicals or additives,” added Thotchui Dominic Khansu.

“It is our first joint venture and through this we hope to generate employment by giving the best service,” added Haomei Kasomwoshi.

“We also plan to extend our ventures by providing homestay service in the coming days,” he said.

Located about 15 km and a 20 minutes drive from Ukhrul Town, one can view the scenic beauty of Ukhrul Headquarters from Kasom Janrei. The ambience looks cool with the indigenous structure and design and vast open space. The grand opening also featured superb performances by Tangkhul artists Ningshang Angkang, Yursari N Kasomwoshi, Winso Chamroy, Yaimichon Kasomwoshi, Soranshok Kasar and Firing Live band.
