MLA Khashim Vashum expressed gratitude to CM N Biren Singh and Education Minister S Rajen Singh for their active support in upgrading the Frontier High School to New Tusom Higher Secondary School. He also lauded the active role and support extended by ZEO of Ukhrul. “Without the contribution and active participation of the community, this upgradation would not bear much fruit. This school is for the neighbouring villages in the border areas and every neighbouring village must take this as their own property and utilize it for the best of our children.”

MLA Khashim Vashum urged the gathering to strive better in every field. “We have spent so much money and energy in supporting our children for their higher studies. Yet, many of our wards have come back to earn less amount than the actual amount we send every month. This is a sad reality. We must rise to compete with others in this competitive world. Let us invest more time and energy in giving the best education to our children,” he said.

Khashim Vashum also said that “Paocham High School, one of the oldest schools in Raphei area would be upgraded soon, it is on the process.”

ZEO of Ukhrul RK. Makaohei Singh informed that the upgradation of Frontier High School to New Tusom Higher Secondary School is possible because of the effort given by MLA Khashim Vashum. At the earliest possible time, in consultation with the Headmaster and SMDC of the school, necessary action would be initiated and put forward to concern authority. As a token of love, ZEO handed Rs.10000 to the Headmaster for management.

Land donor of the school, Shangam Vashum, who donated 6 acres of land stated that “I was approached by the School Board for shifting of the private school from the eastern part of New Tusom to this place. As a teacher who had so much concern for the future of the youngsters and firmly believed that the children are the pillars of the future, I donated this plot of land wholeheartedly for the generations to come. We approached Advocate Peter Pheirei of Phungcham to give the name of the school. He named it “FRONTIER” since the village is located on the border separating India and Myanmar.”

Headman of New Tusom, Shangmayo Vashum stated that “through the active role played by MLA Khashim Vashum, the dreams and wish of every villager to upgrade the Frontier High School to Higher Secondary level has come true. He also expressed gratitude to the land donor for generously contributing the plot of land for construction of this school. All this development is possible because we have a son from this soil who is our elected representative to the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
