Two AR jawans injured in gun battle in Mon district, Nagaland

Another incident in Longwa village, which is an international border area between India and Mynmar, it was reported that some 10 to 15 rounds of shots were fired in the air from an automatic rifles from Myanmar side near “Hawa Junction”

Two jawans of the 32 Assam riffles were injured after an exchange of gun battle between the NSCN (K-YA) at around 2.20 to 2.30 am during the wee hours of August 15 at Nyasa, Mon.

Talking to this Correspondent, SP Mon, Imnalensa, said that the Assam riffles has temporary base camp near the site of the incident. The attack took place while the personnel were executing their duties above the designated base camp.

He informed that the cadres of the NSCN (K-YA) reportedly launched grenade attack thereby injuring two of the AR personnel one in critically after which both were airlifted to Military Hospital Jorhat, Assam.  The two injured personnel are reported to be stable at the time of filing this report.

In the second incident, at Longwa village, which is an international border between India and Myanmar, it was reported that some 10 to 15 rounds of shots were fired in the air from an automatic rifles from Myanmar side near “Hawa Junction” which is just below the international boundary- the road below is Indian territory.

The administration including the police is on alert while it was reported that officials went for spot verification while investigation was on.
