Tuilaphai is the centre of the Tuila Area. Despite this, it has been neglected by successive elected MLAs. And in the past 20 years, not even a single Community Hall for Public Meeting has been established. This is very unfortunate, said the Intending Candidate 57 Henglep A/C Letzamang Haokip.

Letzamang Haokip, intending MLA candidate for 57- Henglep A/C on Thursday reached out to the people of Tuila area under Henglep assembly constituency by successfully organising Tuila Area Leaders Meet at Tuila Village, Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur.

Speaking at the function, Letzamang Haokip expressed the need to develop Henglep Sub-Division. “Tuilaphai is the centre of the Tuila Area. Despite this, it has been neglected by successive elected MLAs. And in the past 20 years, not even a single Community Hall for Public Meeting has been established. This is very unfortunate,” he said. He also highlighted the initiative taken by him to construct a community hall in the area in the past.

Letzamang Haokip also expressed his concern over the dilapidated conditions of transport and communication in Henglep Sub-Division, especially the Hengkot to S Kholian National Highway. “Many a time, medical patients, especially pregnant women, could not reach the nearby hospital on time because of the pathetic road conditions. Many accidents have also been reported from the locality in the past due to the poor condition of the road, he added.

Letzamang Haokip also expressed his deep concern over poor health care facilities and road conditions in Henglep area. “Bearing the brunt of government’s negligence, villagers here are forced to carry patients on makeshift bamboo stretchers walking for upwards of 8-10 hours to reach the nearest hospital. The people of Henglep have long been denied their basic rights of health care facilities for long. All-weather road has been an election promise by our MLAs for a long. However, with no concrete steps taken so far, the poll promise was unsurprisingly just a bluff slogan and false bids. Henglep needs change. Your vote can play an important part in making the change,” he added.

Expressing his desire to have a free and fair election, he appealed to the public to be an agent of change in Henglep.

“I’m not worried about the party ticket. I’m not dependent on the party. I am contesting the election because I want to serve the people of Henglep. Give me your vote, I’ll repay you back in work,” he added.

As a show of gratitude for the support, Letzamang Haokip gave a traditional shawl each to village chiefs who attended the gathering.

Tuila Area village chiefs, Village Authority, Youth Club leaders and other prominent people graced the occasion. The programme concluded with a feast for all participants.
