AMWJU, EGM condole demise of journalist Sagolshem Hemant

Hemant authored the famous travelogue “Khengjoi Chingsang da”, its English translation “Beyond the misty hills”; “Turel gi wari” and also translated Bertin Liutner’s “Land of Jade” into Manipuri.

All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) and Editors Guild Manipur (EGM) condoled the sudden demise of journalist and writer, Sagolshem Hemant. 

In a message, AMJWU acting president Soibam Bokuljaoba Meitei said that a condolence meeting was convened by AMWJU, EGM and former presidents of AMWJU. A two minute silence was observed in honour of the departed. 

The members recalled Hemant’s works in the field of journalism of the state. Many opined that an unfillable void has been left in the state’s journalism after Hemant’s demise, the message added. 

The meeting also joined the family and friends of the departed in this hour of grief. 

Hemant served as an editor of weekly “Pudin”, monthly “Eikhoigee Panthung”, daily “Ningtam Paojel”, and also associated with other media houses of the state.
