The proscribed outfit People’s War Group (Marxist Center) observed its fifth foundation day on Sunday. The outfit said that the day was observed in different places of Manipur and outside the state. The main observation was held at the group’s GHQ and distribution of eatables to orphans and senior citizens was the main highlight of the day.

PWG was formed in 2016 for the downtrodden farmers and workers based on Marxist Doctrine, stated a release by the group’s secretary and central media co-ordinator, Lenin Meitei.

The outfit claimed that the “BJP facist regime” in mainland India is in decline as shown by the repeal of the three farm laws and the results of the recent by-elections.

Maintaining that any movement by farmers and workers will always succeed, PWG asserted that the government was forced to repeal the farm laws despite its efforts to undermine the protests, even going as far as to killing some farmers.

Saluting the farmers who led the protests from the front, the outfit said that it has shown that such movements having “revolutionary character and spirit” can defeat fascists.

On the other hand, PWG said that the people of Kangleipak (Manipur) have lost their sense of life with dignity and the right to life itself. The idea that the people cannot survive without begging has become a norm and the number of certain people who are trying to propagate such ideas have been on the rise, it added.

Stating that the number of people who believe in the Indian electoral politics which suppresses the farmers and workers, PWG maintained that it has led to the increase in the number of people who are not independent.

PWG also criticised the manner in which elections campaigns are being conducted in the state. Without any concern for the culture, tradition and self dignity, many are working for their own benefits during the election.

As Meira Paibi groups and women society, who are supposed to lead the youths of the land to a better future, are now more interested in Indian electoral politics, the future of the land looks bleak, it said, while adding that the significance of the two Nupi Lal and the courage of womenfolk seems to have lost.

Stating that the youths of the land have been misled, PWG maintained that they have been used in Indian electoral politics by endorsing the same old devious design of “youths have an important role”.

PWG also stressed on the importance of youths and women in any revolutionary movement the world has seen.

Maintaining that it is high time that the people introspect about the situations of the land, the outfit asserted that if the people continue to remain in the present condition, there is no future for farmers and workers.
