PCC on Naga political issue holds meeting; No resolution adopted

Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, and UDA chairman TR Zeliang, would be leaving for New Delhi in the coming week to meet the Union Home Minister. Nagaland deputy chief minister Y Patton is already in Delhi.

The Parliamentary Core Committee (PCC) on “Naga Political issue” had a meeting on Saturday at the State Banquet Hall, Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima. However, no resolution was adopted at the meeting.

Addressing media persons after the meeting, member secretary of parliamentary committee, and minister Neiba Kronu, did not disclose much on the details of the meeting but said the members shared their views on the current situations. He said the meeting called was to brief the elected members on the Core Committee meetings with Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) and NSCM (IM) held recently and what message would the members convey to the government of India.

Kronu however informed that Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, and UDA chairman TR Zeliang, would be leaving for New Delhi in the coming week to meet the Union Home Minister. Nagaland deputy chief minister Y Patton is already in Delhi.

It may be mentioned that the meeting held on April 4, Rhododendron Hall, Chümoukedima, was also called to discuss matters concerning the protracted Naga issue. Kronu informed that this meeting discussed the competencies and way forward on Naga political issue.

Kronu, who is also member secretary of the committee on Naga political issue, did not divulge details about the outcome of the April 4 meeting but had hinted that the panel would soon meet the top leaders of the government of India.
