The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed grief over the demise of Tapan Kumar Bose, a visionary documentary filmmaker, human rights defender, and relentless advocate for justice and peace.
The NSF has extended its heartfelt condolences to Mrs Rita Manchanda and family members of late Tapan Kumar Bose during this time of profound grief.
According to NSF’s condolence message issued by its president, Medovi Rhi, late Tapan Kumar Bose dedicated his life to standing against injustice, violence, and inequality, and his unwavering commitment to the cause of human rights and his fearless voice against oppression resonated across South Asia and beyond.
As a filmmaker, activist, and intellectual, he was part of a collective of scientists, journalists, and artists who sought to uphold the rationalist ideals of the governing principles and challenge historic and contemporary forms of subjugation.
For communities that bore the brunt of jingoistic nationalism and militarization, NSF stated that late Tapan Bose was more than an ally—he was a friend, a guide, and a source of immense support who stood in solidarity with those who resisted the capitalist exploitation of land and resources, championing the rights of the marginalized and dispossessed.
His advocacy was not just limited to words; he dedicated his time and effort to being present with the people, walking alongside them in their struggles for dignity and freedom.
NSF also added that the Naga people would remember late Tapan Bose for his unwavering support for Nagas right to self-determination. “In a world where many turned a blind eye, he chose to listen, to amplify our voices, and to fight for our cause. His courage and commitment to justice left an indelible mark on our journey, and his legacy will continue to inspire generations to come,” NSF said.
In this moment of loss, the NSF stand with the bereaved family members in prayer and remembrance, honouring the life of a man who gave so much to the world.
“May his soul find eternal peace, and may his family and loved ones find strength in the knowledge that his work and ideals will live on in the struggles of the people he so passionately fought for,” it added.
