NPP chief Conrad Sangma holds ‘closed door’ meet with Neiphiu Rio ahead of LS poll

Conrad informed that the Niathu meet was to let the PDA government in Nagaland know about NPP extending its fullest support to PDA’s consensus candidate for the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha election

NPP chief, and chief minister of Meghalaya, Conrad Sangma, on Monday held a closed-door meeting with Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, at Niathu Resort, Chumoukedima.

Addressing media persons at NPP headquarter office, Walford, Dimapur, after a closed-door meet with Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, Conrad informed that the Niathu meet was to let the PDA government in Nagaland know about NPP extending its fullest support to PDA’s consensus candidate for the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha election on April 19 in Nagaland.

The press meet was also called to let people know about the outcome of the closed meeting, which was all party meeting.

NPP has 5 five elected members in the present Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA).

Conrad said that the proposal given by the state committee during the meeting, many resolutions were adopted where it was officially decided that NPP would support the candidature of PDA consensus candidate, Dr Chumben Murry, for the 18th Lok Sabha election, and as National People’s Party (NPP) to endorse the candidature and as a party to extend support to PDA’s candidate which has been proposed by the NDPP in true team spirit of the PDA.

He disclosed that the NDA partners have expressed similar support to the different political parties of NDA and who had sponsored candidates of different political parties of the northeast while informing that the NDA partners are supporting each other in those northeastern states.

Conrad went on to add that in Meghalaya, the NDA partners are supporting the candidature of NPP, in Arunachal Pradesh, the BJP candidate, while for the outer Manipur, the NPF leaders met him on Monday urging the NPP to support the NPF candidate for which he had discussed the issue with the NPP Manipur where the NPP MLAs have expressed their support to NPF candidate in outer Manipur.

“This is the spirit that the entire NDA today is working, and in that spirit the NPP met Nagaland chief minister, Neiphiu Rio, and has handed over the resolution to him and also expressed the full support for the candidature sponsored by the NDPP,” Conrad told media persons about the discussions during the closed-door meeting held in the afternoon while also adding that apart from it, discussed other issues related to the overall collision and other internal matters.

He further informed that in the meeting, representatives from other collision partners including the BJP discussed about the ensuing Lok Sabha election.

Furthermore, he said that his real purpose of his visit to Nagaland was to have a detailed discussion with the NPP MLAs and NPP party leaders with regard to organizing and strengthening of the party in the sate and in the northeast region.

The NPP chief, and Meghalaya chief minister was accompanied by NPP leader and Speaker, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly (MLA), Thomas A Sangma.
