Nagaland government focused on empowering women entrepreneurs: NLA Speaker

State government had announced its new “Start-up Policy” in February 2019, wherein 25 percent funds were allocated for women entrepreneurs and plans to facilitate 500 start-ups within five years through “Start-up Nagaland”.

Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer, on Friday said that the State Government was focusing on in empowering women entrepreneurs so that the socio-economic development of the State could be improved.

According an official bulletin, the NLA speaker was addressing the women entrepreneurs during a “Multi-Stakeholder Conclave” organized by the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) in Kohima.

Sharingain said that the State government had announced its new “Start-up Policy” in February 2019, wherein 25 percent funds were allocated for women entrepreneurs and plans to facilitate 500 start-ups within five years through “Start-up Nagaland”.

Stressing on the need for the policy consultation to also focus on rural women entrepreneur inorder to benefit them, the NLA Speaker added that unless women entrepreneurs suggest policy requirements to the Government, it would not know which sectors to focus on.

Therefore, in this regard he invited the Women Entrepreneurs Association (WEA) to send a delegate to attend the upcoming Budget Session in March to view the deliberations that take place in the highest “policy-making institution” in the State.
