MPCC, KCDO, CTSWU mourn demise of former Kshetrigao MLA in COVID-19

The Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) mourned the untimely demise of Thangjam Nandakishore Singh popularly known as Tayai, who died on Wednesday due to COVID-19 complications.

He represented 4-Kshetrigao A/C in the year 2007 as Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA).

MPCC president Govinda’s Konthoujam in a message said that Nandakishore Singh was a gentleman in politics and widely respected and loved by all the people known to him. His tireless works for promotion of communal harmony will be remembered for long, he added.

As a mark of respect to the departed soul of the Congress leader, the party flag remains half-mast. The MPCC shares the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family. We pray for his soul to rest in peace, the message added.

Meanwhile, Kongpal Chanam Leikai Development Organisation (KCDO) held a condolence meeting on Wednesday at the KCDO Library Hall to condole the sad and untimely demise of politician and social worker Thangjam Nandakishor Singh.

During the condolence meeting, residents of Kongpal Chanam Leikai and members of KCDO expressed deep sorrow and grief over the untimely demise of the first-ever MLA that grew up from the soil of Kongpal Chanam Leikai, KCDO said in a release.

The speakers paid rich tributes to the deceased soul and said that his death is a great loss to Kongpal Chanam Leikai and the Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency.

Remembering the departed soul, the speakers stated that Nandakishor was the member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly who represented Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency winning on a National Congress Party (NCP) ticket in the 2007 Manipur Legislative Election.

Nandakishor was the second son of (L) Shri Thangjam Anganghal Singh, a resident of Kongpal Chanam Leikai, Imphal East. He had a humble beginning. Since childhood, he was known for his social mindedness. He was fondly remembered for the contributions he made for the welfare of the leikai as well as the constituency. He dedicated his life for the welfare of the people. He was the first and only notable politician that Kongpal Chanam Leikai has produced. He passed away at the age of around 69 years, the release stated.

The participants present in the condolence meet expressed their deep felt sympathies with the bereaved family in this hour of grief and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

The Ching Tam Social Workers’ Union, Bamon Kampu (CTSWU) also condoled the Tayai’s demise.

In a release, the union said that it was deeply saddened by the untimely demise of Tayai. “He had been an epitome of inspiration and a source of encouragement to all of us. His untimely demise has left a vacuum, which will never be able to be filled and is a great loss of the state,” it stated.

The release also said that an emergency meeting of the CTSWU Executive Committee (online) was held on Thursday and prayed for the departed soul. CTSWU also shared the pain and grief of the bereaved family, it added.
