Games and sports have always been an important field of competitions. From the smallest village to the world’s biggest arena, sport is something that can create a bond beyond different barriers. It may be said that top on the list of sports is football.
With the upgradation of Kamjong Sub-Division to district level, different new developments can be seen. On Thursday, Kamjong District Football Association (KDFA) was formed to create and give space to players and football enthusiasts in the district.
The KDFA has been formed to elevate and impart higher standards of games and sports to the youngsters of Kamjong District informed Rollingson Hungyo.
After proper consultation with the seniors and interested sports persons, a meeting was convened at Kamjong Headquarter on January 25, 2021 with Themso I Shimrei and Yaongam Phinao as convenors.
The meeting unanimously agreed to form a football association under the title “Kamjong District Football Association” (KDFA). Themso I Shimrei of Kangpat Khullen village was elected as president for the tenure 2021-2024. The elected office bearers are — vice president, Rollingson Hungyo of Ningchou village; general secretary, Yaongam Phinao of Roni village; joint secretary, AS Thotreiwung of Hangkao village; technical director, Thinganing Phinao of Roni village and Kongreikham Duidang of Grihang village as the advisor of KDFA.
Kamjong District was created on December 8, 2016 and shares a long international border with Myanmar. It is bounded by Myanmar in the east, Senapati in the West, Ukhrul in the North and Chandel in the South.
