Demanding the Manipur government to declare the final results of the recruitment for different posts in the 10th and 11st Indian Reserve Battalion, the All Manipur Hills Area 10th & 11th IRB Candidates, 2019 announced a “flash indefinite economic blockade” along National Highway 2 from 10 am of November 14.
The JAC also demanded to declare the final results for the rifleman post and their training should begin along with that of the recently announced police constable recruitment for 2013. The viva-voce of as many as 6,750 rifleman candidates have been conducted, the result of which has been withheld for almost three years.
The notice for viva-voce of the 415 candidates for the jamadar post, who have cleared the written examination, should be issued immediately and the recruitment process should proceed, it added.
The JAC warned that if the government tried to persuade the candidates using force, instead of acknowledging the genuine grievances, the candidates are prepared to die by suicide.
Stating that many candidates have slipped into depression waiting for the final result, the JAC asserted that the agitation wouldn’t be called off until the demands are met.
The present government has ignored the fate of the youths who had high hopes and are still waiting for the final result of the recruitment, the JAC lamented.
The JAC also urged the elders of different communities, CSOs, Meira Paibi groups, to save the lives of the candidates. The decision of the economic blockade has been taken as the state government did not complete the recruitment process for the last three years, it added.
