Two persons in connection with the “attempted murder” of a person on October 14 at Khopanala, Chumukedima, Dimapur, have been arrested.

Talking to this Correspondent, additional commissioner of police (Crime) and PRO, Dimapur, Bharat Laxman Markad (IPS), said that the incident happened in the early hours of October 14 where two persons identified as Kevechulo of Khezhakeno village, and Keneiletuo Zumvu of Cheichama village, attempted to murder one Aremchang Imchen.
He also said that both the accused in connection with the “attempted murder” have been arrested after an FIR was lodged at the Chumukedima Police Station, Dimapur, while the victim who got injured on his jaws is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Dimapur. The PRO also informed that both the accused have been forwarded to judicial custody.

Meanwhile, Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) in a press release issued by its president, Aotemsu Aier, and general secretary, S Pangertoshi, said that the attempted murder of Aremchang Imchen by Kevechulo and Keneiletuo has “malafide intention”. The two allegedly used their vehicle to block the road preventing the victim and his friends, DAYO also mentioned that the occupants were specifically questioned on their tribal identity and thus Aremchang becoming a victim.

DAYO also said that the victims were attacked by a sharp weapon resulting in grievous injuries on the head and a broken jaw, while the medical reports are still awaited for internal injuries.
Terming that there is no “place in a civilized society” for such dastardly act of the duo, DAYO further said that such behaviour needs to be reprimanded as per the law of the land so the justice be delivered
without bias at the earliest.
“In order to foster unity among communities, we need to invoke Naga customary law to restrain such deviant elements that spread division among the Naga family,” stated DAYO.

Mentioning that it would not be a mere spectator when individuals with vested interest “target and victimize” members of its community for no rhyme and reason, DAYO wished for a speedy recovery of
Aremchang while awaiting “swift delivery” of justice from the law enforcement agencies.
