Awareness programme on OSC held in Kamjong district

The main focus was to introduce and sensitise the community about the services available at One Stop Centre, Kamjong and FXB Childline Ukhrul-1098.

As part of its advocacy, One Stop Centre (OSC), Kamjong in collaboration with FXB Child Line Ukhrul- 1098 organised awareness programmes on Sakhi- One Stop Centre (Ngayinshim) by at Community Hall, Phungyar Headquarter and Shakok Baptist Church on Sunday. 

OSC, Kamjong, centre administrator Chanchuila MK elaborated on the function and services of Sakhi-One Stop Centre. OSC, Kamjong, case worker, Worshinphy CH spoke on domestic violence and counsellor of FXB Childline Ukhrul, Songam Leikha elaborated on ‘Child Sexual Abuse & Human Trafficking’.

Chanchuila MK stated that “So far, cases of domestic violence, rape case, trafficking of women, child sexual abuse, missing & cyber-crime are the commonly registered cases in the department. Therefore, the two departments collaborated to educate and aware the community to learn, to ascertain the problem and to seek help in times of need. So that the community will be at safe hands if a problem arises.”

During the awareness programmes, around 150 people attended; 12 banners were put up at conspicuous places and hundreds of pamphlets on OSC were distributed. The team also visited six households.

Chanchuila MK informed  that the “OSC, Kamjong has been organising many activities in the Kamjong District area. Due to lack of transport facilities and unavailability of vehicles for the centre, the OSC Kamjong is facing hardship and problems in smooth functioning.”

Poster campaigns at Phungyar Headquarter, Shakok village, H Godah, Phalang Village, Leishi Village, Leiting Village, Koso village & Shangshak Junction  were also carried out. The main focus was to introduce and sensitise the community about the services available at One Stop Centre, Kamjong and FXB Childline Ukhrul-1098.

The OSC, Kamjong started functioning in November, 2019. It is to provide support for women victims of violence in both public and private spheres including services such as rescue, legal counselling, psychological counselling, temporary shelter, etc.
