North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) on Friday expressed solidarity with the Twipra Students Federation (TSF) which is observing a “black day”, being the 2nd anniversary of the brutal atrocity committed by the security personnel upon the TSF activists while they were in a peaceful and in a democratic movement against CAB 2019 at Madhav Bari, Tripura on January 8, 2019.
NESO, in a release, said that the security personnel involved in the heinous atrocity should have been punished, but sadly till today no one of the so-called security personnel who were involved into the nexus of police fire/ atrocity upon the TSF activists are being punished or punitive action was taken against them.
The indigenous communities of Tripura are not only marginalized but also oppressed and suppressed by the government of Tripura headed by “non-indigenous Tripuris”. In this backdrop, NESO demanded that the police personnel involved in the unwarranted firing upon the indigenous peoples of Tripura should be punished and action taken against them.
NESO comprises the Khasi Students Union (KSU), All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Naga Students Federation (NSF), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Twipra Students Federation (TSF), All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU), Garo Students’ Union (GSU) and All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) representing eight major students movement in the seven North Eastern states.
