Nagaland Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation, Railways, and Land Resources, P Paiwang Konyak on Tuesday discussed the issue of leveraging inland waterways connectivity of the state with the Union Minister, Shipping and waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, in New Delhi.
In a tweet, Paiwang said that he held detailed discussions with the union minister to develop the Tizu-Zungki National Waterway-101 and to prepare a proposal on the requirement basis for the 1st phase of the project by Nagaland Inland Waterway Board (NIWB).
Sonowal in a separate tweet also said he held a discussion with the minister on leveraging inland waterways connectivity of the state furthering the vision of “Act East”.
A day earlier, P Paiwang Konyak also met Union Minister Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, and requested him to make Dimapur Railway Station the terminating point for the Nagaland Express instead of Ledo Station in Assam. The Union Railway Minister had assured to look into the matter, said sources.
