Wangoo IED Blast: Arrested persons have no connection, says PREPAK

Five individuals from Wangoo Nurathel area on Friday by Kakching police in connection with the recent IED blast at Wangoo Tera Lupa Marup, Kakching district.

The proscribed outfit, People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) clarified that the five individuals reportedly arrested by the Kakching police commando, allegedly in connection with the recent IED blast at Wangoo Tera and other incidents, have no connection with the outfit and its armed wing, Red Army.

PREPAK ‘Dept. of Publicity & Propaganda’, ‘Publicity Officer’ Mangal Khuman on Saturday issued a statement in this regard.

It may be mentioned that Kakching police arrested five individuals – Okram Manitomba (20) aka Ango Meitei of Wangoo Mamang Sabal Nurathel Leikai; Soroikhambam Goroba Singh (19) aka Ngangba of Pangantabi Makha Leikai; Soroikhambam Arbin Singh (26) of Wangoo Mamang Sabal; Thongam Singhajit Meitei (20) of Wangoo Mamang Sabal; and Irengbam Gitchandra (53) of Wangoo Mamang Sabal.

As per official sources, they were arrested in connection with three IED explosions – the February 20, 2022 IED attack on ITBP personnel, the IED blast on January 26, 2022 at Kakching Khunou Lamkhai near Uyok Bridge as well as one IED blast in Wangoo Lamkhai area in early hours of January 26, 2022.
