Saying that due to the trauma, the victim could not take care of her two children, MKL urged the Assam government to compensate the victim properly and look after her.
Mahousa Kanba Lup (MKL) on Wednesday condemned the gangrape of a widow belonging to the Meitei community near the Boy’s hostel of National Institute of Technology, Silchar, Assam by three men. MKL also demanded stringent punishment for the rapist trio arrested by the police.
MKL, in a release on Wednesday, said that the organisation doesn’t take lightly the fact that the three committed a beastly act upon the woman. Due to the trauma, the victim could not take care of her two children. MKL urged the Assam Government to compensate the victim properly and look after her.
MKL also appealed to Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh to urge his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma to take stringent action against the accused arrested by the police.
MKL further assured that it will support All Assam Manipuri Students’ Union (AAMSU) in its quest to find justice about the incident.
