Ownership of its land changed secretly, alleges Maru Loishang

Maru Loishang also reminded CM Biren to fulfill his assurances he made on October 27, 2021 regarding the controversial construction of certain structures in the Maru Loishang premises.

In an interesting turn of events over the controversy surrounding Maru Loishang, as it has now been alleged that the ownership of the land of Maru Loishang has been “secretly” changed to another entity. The Maru Loishang also asserted that it will take the matter to the court. 

The land designated to the Loishang as per the survey record of 1962 was secretly changed to Shree Shree Govindajee Sevayat Shree Govindajee Temple Board Palace Compound on October 27, 2021, without the acknowledgement of Maru Loishang, stated a release by the Loishang. 

The plot of land in question has been under the ownership of Maru Loishang as per an order issued by the Manipur settlement officer on August 8, 1977, under the Manipur Land Revenue and Reform Act, 1960, (Act 33 of 1960), it added. 

Stating that Maru Loishang is one of the most important institutions of Meitei community which performs crucial activities like Kwak Tanba, Kongba leithong fatpa, writing about Umanglai laithousing, Kumpaba, amongst others, the religious institute urged chief minister N Biren Singh, who is the president of Govindaji Temple Board, to resolve the matter at the earliest before it gets out of hand. 

Maru Loishang also reminded CM Biren to fulfill his assurances he made on October 27, 2021 regarding the controversial construction of certain structures in the Maru Loishang premises.
