Therie also took a dig at the election of a BJP nominee to Rajya Sabha unopposed from a Christian state. He alleged that that the party was ignoring the voice of the Christians and minorities and had “shamed us”. He said that a Christian becoming a BJP Rajya Sabha member from a Christian majority state needs to be pondered upon.

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president Kewekhape Therie on Friday said that NPCC is committed to fight “tooth and nail” in order to defend “faith and identity” of Nagaland.

An NPCC delegation is in the National Capital, Delhi, led by Therie, to apprise Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on various issues confronted by the people of state.

When contacted, K Therie, told this correspondent over phone that the delegation met the Congress president on Thursday night. A meeting was held to discuss the changes in the “demography of Nagaland”.

“How does it reflect the people of Nagaland or as a state with Christian majority?”, Therie asked and added this was why the NPCC was “forced to be speechless” and had “nothing to say” on the issue.

He alleged that UDA Government has compromised the state and its people who follow the Christian faith with “Hindutva”. This he alleged was done to protect themselves from the NIA, CBI, ED and Justice “because they are afraid of the BJP”.

When quipped on the alleged money laundering case which took Nagaland by storm, the NPCC president said as per the media reports, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths are already in the state and that the High Court has even rejected bail applications.

Therie also informed that many NIA cases are still pending against “Nagaland political leaders” and that they are “hand in gloves” with the “insurgent groups”.

Meanwhile, Therie said that the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi in the meeting had assured to stand with the Naga people in the fight to protect their identity. Later, she also assured that, despite some unavoidable delay, NECCC and NEYCCC would be reorganized soon.
