NSCN/GPRN led by Niki Sumi on Thursday reiterated that his group has come to the negotiating table with the government of India as per the desire of the people and assured that the group will do “what will serve the best interest of the people”.

Niki Sumi said this while leading his group along with Ato Kilonser Starson Lamkang at a consultative meeting with the representatives of apex Naga tribal bodies of Nagaland including Kachari Tribal Council and Kuki Inpi (N) held on Thursday at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur.

Calling upon the tribal leaders to come and stand as one for the aspirations and desires of the Nagas for a lasting peace, the NSCN leader pointed out that “Naga peace solution” lies in the hands of the Naga people and not with the Naga political groups alone therefore, it was imperative for the Nagas in general to take a “decision”.

Also speaking at the consultative meet, Ato Kilonser Starson Lamkang said all types of “isms” have broken the Nagas into pieces and there can never be successful as long as Naga people remain divided.

The tribal leaders who attended the meeting lauded the government of India for signing the agreement with the NSCN (K) for a year. They stated that that it was the desire of all the Nagas that all groups must come to the “negotiating table” with the government of India and expressed hope that there would be a positive outcome towards the “Naga solution.”

Also voicing out their concern for the future of the Nagas, the tribal leaders pointed out that there must be unity among not only different groups but also the Naga people in general and work collectively to pave way for Nagas to live in peace.

“Commander in chief, People’s Army Nagaland (PAN), NSCN/GPRN” Akaho Zhimo also attended the meeting. The consultative meeting was chaired by Kilonser MIP and Supervisor, CFSB, Nikato Pilot, while Reverend Phughoto Aye, Executive Secretary, WSBAK, invoked God’s blessings with a prayer.
