Ending all the suspense, caretaker chief minister N Biren Singh was unanimously elected as Manipur State BJP legislature Party leader on Sunday. He will be chief minister for a second time in a row.

Declaring Biren as leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Central BJP observers Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Kiren Rijiju congratulated him by offering bouquets.

Speculation has been doing rounds as the BJP did not declare the chief ministerial face even ten days after election results came.

N Biren Singh, Biswajit Singh and Yumnam Khemchand were called to Delhi on Saturday. All the three had met with the BJP’s central leadership in Delhi, as the party discussed who would be Manipur’s next Chief Minister.

They returned to Imphal at noon along with BJP’s central observers, who made the announcement.

N Biren Singh as chief minister of Manipur has been commended for bringing an end to the culture of bandh blockade and general strike in the state and managing to bridge the divide among the ethnic communities in the state.

Because of his ability to change the course of a troubled-torn state to the path of peace and development, he is reportedly a blue-eyed boy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Besides, the caretaker chief minister won the election with a record margin defeating his lone rival and congress candidate Pangeijam Saratchandra Singh by 18,271 votes.
