Chief minister Neiphiu Rio attended a meeting of Chief Ministers through virtual conference on Thursday convened by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, where matters related to the surging COVID-19 cases and the emergence of Omicron variant were discussed.

As Nagaland on Thursday recorded 86 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total confirmed caseload to 32,616, Nagaland and Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has also tested positive for the COVID-19.
The 86 new COVID-19 cases recorded included 77 in Dimapur, six in Kohima, and three in Peren. Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, through his tweeter handle has extended wishes for speedy recovery of the Governor and prayed for his good health.
Rio also shared that he attended a meeting of Chief Ministers through virtual conference on Thursday convened by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, where matters related to the surging COVID-19 cases and the emergence of Omicron variant were discussed.
He later urged all to continue to work together in fighting the pandemic by following all precautionary measures and adhering to the SOPs.
Meanwhile, special vaccination drive for students between 15 to 18 years of age is underway in all the 15 districts starting Thursday.
According to Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Department, the special vaccination drive for the students are being organized at selected Government Higher Secondary Schools for which it informed that the Nagaland School Education Department has asked all parents to get their children to voluntarily vaccinate for COVID-19 at the nearest Special Vaccination Centres which is available free of cost.
Further, heads of all Schools or Boards both Government and Private have also been directed to disseminate the information to parents of all eligible students studying in their schools through School WhatsApp groups and other communication channels.
