To take part in general elections to Mizo Zirlai Pawl, General Headquarters(MZP-GHQ) for the tenure 2021-2023 scheduled for November 4, 2021 at MZP Pisapui, Treasury Square, Aizawl, Mizoram, 10 Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) leaders from Manipur will travel for three days official visits to Aizawl from November 3 to 5.
The TSA team from Manipur will be led by Mr. Houkholen Haokip, president, TSA-GHQ.
TSA was affiliated as a constituent member of MZP-GHQ after it was approved in the MZP General Assembly at Serchhip in 1997.
In a Press statement issued on Monday, TSA-GHQ said that due to pseudo Thadou-Kuki Students’ Union (TKSU) in 2002, TSA was detached from MZP-GHQ since then. This year in February, TSA-GHQ was re-affiliated back to MZP-GHQ thereby becoming a constituent member of affiliated organizations as we speak one of the Mizo languages i.e. Thadou, it added.
The statement further said the TSA have 20 (twenty) votes in the MZP-GHQ electoral roll for the eligible voting franchise.
It also said thar in 2016, TSA Mizoram Branch was founded at the residence of (L) Pu F. Lawmkima, Former Minister, Mizoram. The TSA Mizoram branch is authorised by TSA-GHQ for 10 (ten) voting franchise at MZP-GHQ level, it added Historically, Chin-Kuki-Lushai(Mizo) and Zomi have common origin, one and the same and can never be separated by anything like International boundary, state boundary, etc. as it had emotional bonding and integration as a blood brother, said the statement.
Thadou are also known as Chin in Myanmar, Mizo in Mizoram and Kuki in other parts of North East Indian states. This is one reason why Thadou in Manipur opposes Any Kuki Tribes (AKT) and Kuki Tribe as “Kuki is a composition and conglomeration of various distinctive tribes”, it added.
The statement said during the visit, TSA leaders will meet various social & political leaders, CSOs in Aizawl, Church leaders in Mizoram and Govt. officials of Mizoram government, etc.
