Manipur’s COVID-19 active caseload crosses 1,000 with 175 fresh reports, 15 jailed for not wearing masks

Three deaths were reported in the state, taking the death toll to 393. India records 323,144 new cases, 30,000 dip from Monday’s reports

Manipur’s COVID-19 active caseload rose to 1032 on Tuesday with 175 fresh infections recorded while India’s active tally reached 1,76,36,307 with 323,144 new cases detected in the past 24 hours.

This was the fifth consecutive day when over 100 cases were registered in a single day in the State.

Though Manipur continued to see surge in fresh cases, India recorded a fall of nearly 30,000 new cases in a day compared to those reported on Monday

“As many as 172 persons (104 male, 68 female) from the general population and three personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID19 positive cases in the last 24 hours with three deaths. There are now 1032 active cases in the state,” officials said.

The positive cases from the general population are from Imphal West (84), Imphal East (29), Bishnupur (26), Kakching (9), Senapati (8), Churachandpur (7), Kangpokpi (3), Thoubal (3), Chandel (2), and Tengnoupal (1).

In the last 24 hours, three persons aged 42 years (male, Imphal West), 75 years (female, Imphal East) and 64 years (female, Imphal West) died at Shija Hospital, JNIMS and RIMS Hospital respectively. The death toll has now reached 393.

According to the figures released by the union health ministry, 2,771 deaths took place in the past 24 hours across the country, taking the total death toll to 197,894.

As per the latest information, 1,39,457 individuals have been vaccinated in the state.

Air passengers who travelled to the state on (i) April 25, 2021 by Indigo Flight 6E-6181 in rows 16-21 and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 have been instructed to inform the Common Covid Control Room 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) immediately.

Meanwhile, 15 persons were fined Rs 1,000 each and sent to jail for three days for violating COVID-19 guidelines and SOPs on Tuesday. They are: Karan Bhattarai, Bharat Kumar, Anil Kalikote, Palwan Kumar, Dheeraj Kumar, Subodh Das, Singesar Das, Suresh Mahoto, Raman Kumar, Anil Betha, Subodh Tanti, Jitendra Singh, Ganesh Kumar Nishad, and Md Abdual Satar.

They were picked up by a team of City PS led by ASI Ch Somorjit Singh of City PS pickup for not wearing face mask in public place violating the SOP of COVID-19 pandemic issued by the Government of Manipur from Khwairamband Bazar areas, Imphal, at around 10 am on Tuesday.
