In yet another case of pre-poll violent incident, unidentified assailants on Saturday night shot at W Rojit alias Bullet, who is contesting the Manipur Assembly Election 2022 as a JD (U) candidate from Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency (A/C). The incident happened at around 11 pm Saturday, at Naharup area under Kshetrigao AC.
Sources told TFM that a bullet hit him on the upper chest and is currently admitted to Raj Medicity, Imphal. He is reported to be stable now.

It may be mentioned that on Saturday, People’s Election Monitoring team of Youth Collective Manipur (YCM) said that according to their survey, the pre-election phase is marked by unprecedented violence and use of muscle and money power. According to YCM, it has documented 46 violent incidents including 4 deaths, 10 bomb blasts, 15 gun-violence, and 19 ransacking of properties and others. Such naked violence over shadowed other forms of poll violence. The open intimidation of armed ethnic militant groups forcing members of its ethnic community to vote for one particular political party is a matter of grave concern, said YCM expressing concern over the violent incidents.
