Govt scheme not utilized properly due to ignorance or lack of awareness: MoS for Minority Affairs

Union minister of state for minority affairs John Barla on Thursday visited Churachandpur and inspected various government sponsored projects in the district.

Barla inspected Sadbhavna Mandap, Tuibong; Lanva Model High School building; PHSC Construction at Geljang; Sadbhavna Mandap, Lamka South and SSA Residential School, according to official sources.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inspection, John Barla said that construction of schools, residential schools and other components that is going on is done smoothly but due to non-release of full amount of the earmarked funds, the completion of the works are yet to be achieved.

He maintained that the scheme has not been utilized properly due to ignorance or lack of awareness. And that awareness needs to be given at the grass-root level so that minority groups/classes can avail facilities that are meant for them.

Interacting with local leaders, he also assured that during his stay in the state, he would meet members from the minority communities including Bishops and Fathers to spread awareness about the PM Schemes which can be benefitted. 

The minister also interacted with various community leaders. He was accompanied amongst others by Manipur’s Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba; Ng Bhogendra, director, Minority Affairs, Manipur; chief engineer, MOBED; Khaikhopau Ngaihte, additional DC, Churachandpur and other officials of the State Minority Dept and District’s DRDA.
