The appointment of the UDA Chairman was long pending since the forming of all-party alliance last year with an objective to facilitate an early settlement to the protracted Naga Political Issue.

Former Nagaland Chief Minister, and Naga People’s Front Legislature Party (NPFLP) leader, TR Zeliang, has been appointed as the chairman, United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

According to reports, the decision to appoint TR Zeliang to the post was taken on February 8 at the joint parliamentary meet held at the State Banquet Hall of Nagaland’s Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima, where the UDA comprising of all ruling parties inclusive of NDPP, BJP, NPF and Independent attended.

It was also learnt that the appointment of the UDA Chairman was long pending since the forming of all-party alliance last year with an objective to facilitate an early settlement to the protracted Naga Political Issue.

YM Yollow Konyak

Meanwhile, the lone NPF legislator from Mon district, Nagaland, YM Yollow Konyak, would be sworn in as cabinet minister in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Wednesday at Raj Bhavan, Kohima, Nagaland.

According to sources, name of Yollow Konyak, who survived from defection in 2019 along with fellow legislators from Eastern Nagaland and steadfastly settled with the “grand old” Naga regional was picked-up to fill in the vacancy in Neiphiu Rio’s cabinet in the State.
