The Communist Party of India has demanded the government to intervene and take appropriate measures to reduce the prices of petrol and diesel and give relief to the people.

The National Secretariat of the Communist Party of India, in a statement on Friday, has called upon its members and party units to protest against rising petrol and diesel prices.

“The oil marketing companies thinking they have absolute autonomy to fix the fuel prices not taking into consideration the international prices. The central government allows these companies to act in the name of everything should be left to the market forces allowing these companies to fix prices, it is nothing but pandemic profit making, looting the people,” it asserted.

CPI contended that in the “corona hit economy” the rise in petrol and diesel prices is causing great hardships to common people as it has a cascading effect on prices of all other commodities.
