Everyone should help each other in order to develop a society, and women empowerment is very important to achieve it, said major Nikhil Jha of 16th Assam Rifles, Keithelmanbi Battalion.

16th Assam Rifles, Keithelmanbi Battalion distributed sewing machines to 10 selected women at Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai on Sunday under its Civic Action Programme. The distribution function was jointly organised by Young Progressive and Athletic Club, Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai and the Assam Rifles.
Speaking on the occasion, major Nikhil Jha said, “We all need to respect the role of women of the state in our society. Everyone should help each other in order to develop a society, and women empowerment is very important to achieve it.”
The sewing machines were distributed to the selected women so that they can have their own livelihood. Such endeavour to help the poor and needy will continue, he added.
