Chandel District Fishery Farmers’ Development Committee warned that unless the Department of Fishery listens to the grievances of the CSOs of Chandel and appoint officers in consultation with them, there will be no “amicable solution”.
The committee along with other CSOs of Chandel filed a complaint to the CNPO (Chandel Naga Peoples’ Organization) regarding the appointment of the new DFO. The CDFFDC in its complaint stated that while the demand to remove the “tented” former DFO Kh. Ibetombi Devi has been accepted, the Department of Fishery has sent yet again another “tented officer” who already has a bad record in the district, stated a release by the committee’s general secretary J. Chithung.
“The CSOs of Chandel are appalled by the attitude of the Manipur Government as if Chandel is the dustbin of all corrupt officers,” the committee said and asserted that the CSOs will not allow the newly appointed DFO K. Jenishing Tarao to be posted in Chandel.
