AMSU human resource development secretary Mani Ningthoujam said that the contractor and concerned department should “consult” the student body within five days.
All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) banned all construction works at Phundrei High School, under Wangjing Tentha Assembly Constituency after the student body found the ongoing construction of hostels for boy and girls, and staff quarters not maintaining quality.
Speaking to media persons AMSU human resource development secretary Mani Ningthoujam said that as part of the student body’s “Campaign for Total Education”, a team of the student body inspected the ongoing construction at Phundrei High School and was found poor quality of work.
Since the structures pose a threat to the students and teachers in event of natural calamities like earthquakes, the construction work has been banned, he added.
Mani also asserted that the contractor and concerned department should “consult” the student body within five days. He also said that it was unfortunate that the school headmaster did not have any idea under which scheme the construction work was being conducted. He also urged the public to cooperate with AMSU in such endeavour in the future.
