All Manipur Nupi Marup on Thursday celebrated its 81 foundation day with a simple function at Irawat Bhawan, Imphal.
Speaking on the occasion, All Manipur Nupi Marup president M Sakhi said that since its inception Nupi Marup has been involved in trying to find the solutions of different issues that confronted the state. It took part in the agitation under the National Federation of Indian Women to bring in the National Food Security Act, under which rice is available at a cheap price.
Maintaining that Nupi Marup and women in the country have been demanding 33 percent reservation in legislature, Sakhi asserted that without women in politics a equality between men and women cannot be achieved. She also said that the government should work towards fighting the crime against women and children effectively.
