Minister for forest, environment, and climate change CL John on Sunday said that the 76th Republic Day celebration is an appropriate to remember the wisdom of makers of the Indian Constitution led by the chairman, drafting committee, Dr BR Ambedkar.
After unfurling Tri-colour flag, and inspecting the parade at the DDSC Stadium, Dimapur, John said that it is a testimony to the resilience of the constitution that Nagaland was granted statehood on December 1, 1963, and along with it, the state has become equal partners in the journey of peace and progress in true spirit of “cooperative federalism”.

On the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority (FNTA), John said that Nagaland government has been working tirelessly to live up to the ideals embodied in the Constitution and that it is in line with the “spirit” enshrined in the constitution that the state government submitted its comment on the third draft of the “Memorandum of Settlement” in respect of the proposed “Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority” to the ministry of Home Affairs.
He said that substantial progress has been made on the matter and hoped that the remaining concerns of the ENPO are addressed in the same spirit of brotherhood.
Lauding the district administration including the police for ensuring that “peace reigns” in the state, the minister highlighted that during the year 2024, the Nagaland police department continued its fight against drugs and seized various drugs valued at about Rs 49 Crore, while the excise department during the period from April to November 2024 has made seizures worth more than Rs 1.16 Crore.
