MCORTA has provided voluntary services for the expedition of developmental work, particularly NH 202, two lane expansion from Yaingangpokpi to Finch Corner section.

Monitoring Committee on Road Construction on Tangkhul Areas (MCORTA), a committee set up by Tangkhul Frontal Organisations to oversee the road construction in Tangkhul areas has appealed to all the stakeholders to extend the fullest cooperation towards the completion of the NH 202 -two lane expansion from Yaingangpokpi to Finch Corner.
A press statement signed by Convenor of MCORTA, RS. Jollyson states that the Tangkhul frontal organisations have been monitoring minutely relating to the road construction in Tangkhul areas by setting up a Committee called “Monitoring Committee on Road Construction on Tangkhul Areas” (MCORTA). “Ever since, the Committee has relentlessly given voluntary services for the expedition of developmental work, particularly NH 202, two lane expansion from Yaingangpokpi to Finch Corner section. In the process, it was found out that there were serious lapses in compensating the villages affected by expansion which turns out to be the major cause of delay in construction. Taking this into account, the Committee held several meetings and made site visits with all the concerned stakeholders in each of the affected villages and addressed grievances of all individual land owners”, said MCORTA.
In the process, the committee faced many challenges from different quarters. However, it had contributed in overcoming many problems that hampered the smooth execution of works and complaints from various parties involved in the construction work were resolved amicably, added the committee.
“Having resolved grievances from various angles confronting the ongoing works, we are happy to see the progress after a long gap. And we express our appreciation to all the concerned for their cooperation and contribution thus far. It is also our appeal to all the stakeholders to extend the fullest cooperation towards the completion of this road. Moreover, any grievances relating to the ongoing construction of NH 202 may directly approach the aforementioned committee before taking up untoward actions.” mentioned the statement.
The construction of NH 202 is in a snail progress. The completion of the road would greatly benefit the people of Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts.
