AR Hands Over Rain Harvesting Tank To Khaivaren Tang

Assam Rifles under ARCAP provided assistance to Khaivaren Tang, Hungpung, Ukhrul, for the construction of rainwater harvesting tanks so as to address the water scarcity problems face by the locality.

Col Manoj Shinde, Commandant, 35 Assam Rifles, Ukhrul on Saturday, inaugurated the rainwater harvesting project carried out at Khaivaren Tang, Hungpung, Ukhrul.

Somsai Battalion under the aegis of IGAR (South) had carried out the project under Assam Rifles Civic Action Program (ARCAP).

Due to the acute scarcity of water during the dry season, the Khaivaren Tang, Hungpung village of Ukhrul District have approached and requested the Assam Rifles for the need to construct a scientific project for harnessing and storing the rainwater during dry season from November to March. Due to the scarcity of water in this lean season, the villagers have been facing severe problems in their day to day life. As part of the project under ARCAP, Somsai Battalion undertook the initiative for carrying out the construction of a pilot project of Rainwater Harvesting in Ukhrul town in order to address the water scarcity problems of the local populace.

The village authorities have appreciated the efforts made by Assam Rifles and have urged Somsai Battalion to undertake more such initiatives for bringing more development in the area, benefitting the community at large .
