35 AR Extends Aid To Raphachir Home

With the onset of New Year 2022, the 35 Assam Rifles, Somsai Battalion extended humanitarian assistance to Raphachir Home – a home for the homeless and orphans located at Harkui Kathe, Ukhrul.

As a part of New Year 2022 celebration, the 35 Assam Rifles of Somsai Battalion has extended assistance to Raphachir Home- a home for the homeless amd orphans.

“With limited resources, the home has been functioning and is being managed” informed Rebecca Wungsek, the caretaker of Raphachir Home. She informed that “at present there are 22 orphans out of which 7 are boys and 15 are girls. We are expecting more in the coming days. We are indeed grateful to 35 Assam Rifles, Somsai Battalion for providing us 24 numbers of mattresses, sugar, rice, white peas, dal, soya, salt, fish, cooking oil, coffee, hair oil, cocoa food milk, dettol soap, milk powder, tooth brushes and tooth paste, biscuits, chocolates, cloth items amd cash.”

Fondly called by the children in home as Sister, Rebecca Wungsek also expressed her immense gratitude to Alek Muivah (MJS), Joint Registrar, Manipur High Court for letting them stay free of cost at his residence since December 29, 2020.

When asked about how she managed the Raphachir Home, she shared that they cultivate paddy fields at Shirui and Hungpung for their consumption. She also informed that they work as daily wage labourers unloading and loading cement and bricks, washing clothes and engaging in farm works beside others.

She is a also a Missionary sponsored by Tangkhul Christian Fellowship Delhi (TCFD). She is involved in healing and giving counselling to couples, youths, alcoholic, drug addict, etc through prayers in her home. She shared that her face was badly burnt in 1988 but it has become a blessing in disguise because many people who came for counselling had a change of hearts looking at her appearance. “God must be using me as a channel of change.”

Officers of 35 Assam Rifles, Somsai Battalion informed this correspondent that on learning of the struggle faced by Raphachir Home, the humanitarian aid was given as a part of New Year celebration. Raphachir Home warmly served hot tea and noodles to the visiting officers of 35 Assam Rifles.
