30-year-old Krishna Nayaka, from Mysuru, Karnataka, who wants to spread the message of Yoga and environmental conservation has reached Nagaland.
A professional and certified yoga instructor from the Ayush department, New Delhi, Nayaka, left his home on October 16, 2022, and since then has walked more than 11,500 Kms covering 18 states within the country and beyond including Nepal and Bhutan to spread the importance of Yoga and environment conservation to the young minds initiated on the theme “Divided by states, United by Yoga”.
Interacting with this correspondent over phone, Krishna who is now stationed at ICAR, Medziphema, since March 21 informed that he will be visiting educational institutions including the prestigious NIT in Chumoukedima, and the schools where he would interact with the students on the true purpose of Yoga and its significant value on health, how Yoga plays an important role in life and enhance concentration level, to maintain one’s own health on Monday.
He informed that he reached ICAR, Medziphema, via Imphal, Senapati, Kohima, and then proceed to Dimapur to walk to Arunachal Pradesh via Tinsukia, Assam, and then walk towards Guwahati, Assam, for his next destination, New Delhi, and later on culminate his walkathon at his home state, Karnataka.
Krishna Nayaka started his walkathon journey from his home town Mysuru, Karnataka, and traversed Kerela, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, and Manipur, before entering Nagaland.
The yoga and environmental conservation awareness solo “padayatra” undertaken by Krishna Nayaka of Udbur in Jayapura, Hubli, Karnataka, since the year 2022 has created awareness among school children and the general public on practicing yoga and the importance of environmental conservation by planting saplings and sowing seedballs along the roads that he passes through.
Sharing the backdrop of his decision to walk the length and breadth of the country to propagate the message, Krishna Nayaka, said it was his calling within that the world had suffered a lot due to the outbreak of Covid-19 and many had lost their loved ones which according to him was due to lack of oxygen.
He supplemented that it was when it struck his mind that “Yoga and Pranayama” are essential parts one’s lives and much necessary for all to indulge them in one’s daily activities in order to stay healthy, happy, and in any case to face any such outbreaks again.
