Pambei-led UNLF mourns demise of Private Chamba

Private Chamba breathed his last on March 22, 2024 after battling a bullet injury in a hospital. He had sustained injury after his rifle accidentally misfired at Marjing Battalion, said the outfit.

Pambei-led United National Liberation Front, Manipur, (UNLF) which signed a peace agreement with the Government of India, on Sunday mourned the demise of Private Thingnam Chamba @ Jiter. In a condolence message issued by the outfit’s media coordinator Charairongba Thokchom, UNLF Pambei group and its armed wing Manipur People Army (MPA) offered the revolutionary salute to Late Private Thingnam Chamba who trusted in the Independence movement for Manipur and expressed heartfelt condolence to the family.

Private Chamba was born on March 13, 2001, at Umathel Awang Leikai in Kakching District. He was the youngest of four sons of Late Thingnam Tenden and Thingnam (O) Memcha.

Private Chamba entered the outfit in 2023 and joined the Basic Military Training (BMT) of MPA’s 52nd batch on September 11, 2023. After completing the BMT, he was given MPA service no 2914 and posted to the Marjing Battalion of MPA’s 1st Brigade. He took part in the fight against enemies at Khamenlok, said the statement. ‘

Describing him as a loyal and dutiful MPA soldier, the outfit said Private Chamba discharged all the duties assigned by the outfit till his last breath.

Extending its condolences to all the bereaved family members and friends who are mourning the immense loss, the outfit said Athouba Private Chamba was a diligent, soft-spoken, down-to-earth, self-contained and courageous soldier. His sudden demise left a void in the party that can never be filled, it added.
