The arrested has identified himself as Prakash Kshetri aged @ 23 years s/o Ratan Kshetri, resident of Ward No. 8, Moreh. Prakash Kshetri was the driver of the vehicle from where gold bars were recovered.

Commando unit of Kakching police arrested one person along with 18 bars of gold weighing around three kilograms worth around Rs 1.5 crore at Pallel Check-post, the police said on Thursday. The gold bars were seized from an EECO van bearing registration number MN01AS-8825 concealed beneath the step of the left door, they added.
The arrested has identified himself as Prakash Kshetri aged @ 23 years s/o Ratan Kshetri, resident of Ward No. 8, Moreh. Prakash Kshetri was the driver of the vehicle from where gold bars were recovered.
According to the police, based on reliable source input regarding smuggling of gold, the frisking and checking operation was intensified at Pallel Check-post by CDO unit Kakching. The operation was led by Subedar Ksh Prakash of CDO Unit Kakching and was carried out under the command of Inpst Md. Abash Khan, OC CDO unit, Kakching. The operation was supervised by Binoy Chongtham, MPS, Addl. SP (Ops), Kakching and under overall supervision of Shrey Vats, IPS, SP, Kakching.
During the said frisking and checking, 18 bars of gold weighing 2988 gms. in total (2.988 kgs. in total) were detected, they said.
The police further said each gold bar was packed in plastic with a white sticker pasted on it. On the bottom of the bar, three small “W” letters and one large ‘W” letter is carved along with a five petalled flower symbol carving. On the top of the bar Letter “W” has been carved. Each bar weighs 166gms.
Investigation is underway to find how Prakash Kshetri got the gold and where he was taking it. After the necessary formalities, the seized materials along with the arrested person will be handed over to the Customs Department for necessary action, the police added.
