A total of 12 functionaries of Naga People’s Front (NPF) from 43-Phungyar Assembly Constituency tendered their resignations from active and primary memberships of the party. The resignation was submitted to the Working President of Divisional Unit, Ukhrul.
A statement with regard to the resignation pointed out that having been the active members and party officials for the past many years, the time to take the hardest decision in their political journey has come as they have waited and borne the burden long enough.
“In spite of our indubitable love for the NPF as a political party, we could not gather any legitimate point to compromise whatsoever when the real builders who invested all theirs in building the house were compelled to be mere spectators and were treated outsiders by the elected representative. This was firmly established time and again when the representative gave such a vapid and discriminatory attitude towards the party men who had laid the foundation of the party sweating their blood”, added the statement.
Despite the concern for the NPF party, the statement pointed out that they were resigning with immediate effect (from Thursday) and expressed their support to Hopingson A Shimray who is an intending candidate from the BJP party for the 43- Phungyar (ST) AC in the upcoming Manipur Legislative Assembly election 2022.
The NPF functionaries expressed their firm belief that Hopingson A Shimray had an inclusive approach as he is a “qualified, mature, sincere and experienced leader” for the 43-Phungyar (ST) AC.
