Lok Sabha MP from Odisha and the newly appointed the All India Congress Committee (AICC), in-charge of Nagaland Saptakiri Sankar Ulaka, on Wednesday has disclosed that the AICC has recently appointed new secretaries, and general secretaries (in-charge) of various states.
And as part of it, he was in the state to meet the office bearers of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), he informed while addressing media persons at the Congress Bhavan, Kohima.
Sankar Ulaka said the “reshuffle” was done keeping in mind the next general elections due in 2028. Highlighting the remarkable victory of Congress’s lone candidate, S Supongmeren Jamir, he said the people of Nagaland gave a decisive mandate to its candidate in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Despite overwhelming odds, Jamir’s win demonstrated the love and affection of the people of Nagaland, which Ulaka described as “phenomenal”.
The Congress party, Saptakiri Sankar Ulaka said, firmly believed because of the misgovernance of this government, the current NDPP and BJP government, the misrule of this government and the stepmotherly attitude of the government of India, it’s high time that there should be a change in Nagaland.
And as part of the process, Ulaka said he was appointed as AICC secretary in charge of Nagaland to ensure that it leave no stones unturned so that in 2028, the Congress could form the government in Nagaland in full majority.
He also said that he is in the state to meet the office bearers, the district committees, the Pradesh committees, the assembly level Congress committee heads, do district tours which are divided into various district sections on and two and try and ensure that the committees, right from Pradesh Congress Committee to Political Affairs Committee (PAC) down to the Mandal Committee, Block Committees and the Booth Committees, everything is formed in a time bound manner in the next three months.
The district tours would also potentially start identifying its potential candidates who could be considered for the next election.
“It’s been 20 to 22 years that we are out of power and I think it’s really that the people of Nagaland, they deserve better governance. They deserve corruption free governance.
They deserve better solution to the problem from the central government,” AICC in-charge of Nagaland said while adding that the meeting to meet the people, understand the people, to build its narrative, to understand the narrative and understand the problems of the people, what is happening on the ground, what the government is doing locally was actually was why he was here in the state of Nagaland.
Maintaining that it is not only the political issue that is being seen in the state but there are many issues including road conditions, education systems, employment issues, price rise issues, atrocities against women, and corruption issues (20 percent) which has been neglected and had looted the state for many decades and needed to be curbed in order to move forward, he said.
“It’s high time to say no to misgovernance, to corruption, to the high handedness of Narendra Modi, who have been only giving false promises that they will do this, do that, but nothing is coming out publicly. It’s not only political, it’s social, economic, all the things. And the only answer to this is a Congress government and we are working, we are doing our homework to ensure that when the time comes, we are ready to take the opportunity and provide a good governance both in the state and in the country”, he further added.
MP (Lok Sabha) and PCC President, S Supongmeren Jamir, and working president, NPCC, Khriedi Theunuo, All India Congress Committee (AICC), Christopher Tilak, and Nagaland former RS member, Apok Jamir, were also present at the press briefing.
