We should encourage our local entrepreneurs, says Ram Muivah

Around 56 stalls from various corners of Manipur are showcasing different indigenous products at the ongoing National Indigenous Products Expo, Ukhrul which will wind up on November 30, 2022.

Organised by Ukhrul Hills Development Foundation (UHDF), funded under PMS Scheme, 5B by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), the first ever National Indigenous Products Expo kick-started on Monday at Town Hall, Ukhrul.

The programme was attended by MLA 44-Ukhrul Assembly Constituency, Ram Muivah as Chief Guest. MLA of Heirok Assembly Constituency, Thokchom Radheshyam Singh, Former Deputy Speaker of Manipur and Spokesperson BJP Manipur, Preshow MK Shimray and Former MLA Candidate of 43-Phungyar Assembly Constituency, Hopingson A Shimray attended the programme as guests of honour.

Speaking at the occasion, Ram Muivah stated that “we should promote our local and organic products. I thank the organisor for such initiative. In India, 60-70% are small and medium industries, we should encourage our local entrepreneurs.

Thokchom Radheshyam Singh stated that “let us popularise our local products so that our living standard and economy may increases. If we love our people let us substitute foreign products and encourage local entrepreneurs by supporting and buying their products. It is time to collaborate between the entrepreneurs of hills and valley and make a strong team to compete with others. This will also create unity and harmony among the brethren of Manipur.”

He further encourage to organise such programme frequently so as to build confidence and trust among the people of Manipur. Create a perennial source of income and generate employment to the people.

Preshow MK Shimray while extending heartfelt gratitude to dignitaries present also express his gratitude to entrepreneurs from Ima Keithei, Imphal and from various districts of Manipur who participated at the ongoing expo. He stated that “indigenous products like crafts, handlooms etc which was Indigenously designed and used by our forefathers which have been abandoned for so many years have been revived again by PM Modiji through MSME. He calls for promotion and revival of indigenous prpducts locally and globally.
