Villagers calls for speedy construction of Makuikong Road

Villagers of  Teinem, Phalee and Ngainga on Saturday called on MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency, Khashim Vashum in regards to the proposed construction of Makuikong Road at the riverside of Makuikong, Phalee.

The Village Authority of Teinem, Phalee and Ngainga met MLA Khashim Vashum at his residence in Ukhrul and pressed upon for the construction of Makuikong Road at the earliest.

Chairman of Ngainga Village, Livingsom Mahak, Chairman of Phalee Village, A Sochipem and Chairman of Teinem Village, Yangsing Raleng told TFM that the road connecting LM Block and Ukhrul Headquarters is in a deplorable condition unfit for movement of any vehicles.

Yangsing Raleng stated that “with the onset of monsoon, the connectivity road from Ukhrul Headquarters to Ngainga, Phalee and Teinem towards Makuikong is in a pathetic condition. Since the said road has been left unattended for a long time, it has become impossible to travel at Makuikong Road. There is no proper road from LM Block to connect District Headquarters and this has created much inconvenience to the villagers from western part of Ukhrul District. On behalf of the villages in the western part of Ukhrul District, we appeal to the Government under the leadership of CM N Biren Singh to start at the earliest and complete the said road during his tenureship”.

Yangsing Raleng said that “the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved and deposited at the State treasury on July 2020 for improvement of Imphal-Ukhrul road (old) from New Heaven to Tolloi Junction (Phase I) at a cost of Rs 1,487.52 Lakh, improvement of road from Ngaimu/Tolloi Junction to Teinem/Tuinem,  a distance of 16km at a cost of Rs 1,309.91 lakh and improvement of road from Ngaimu/Tolloi Junction to Somdal, a distance of 18km at a cost of Rs 1,482.10 lakh. Administrative approval was accorded on October 16, 2020 and Invitation For Bids (IFB) was held on March 15, 2021”. He added that the villagers would be very happy if the said Makuikong Road is completed during the BJP government led by CM N. Biren Singh.

MLA Khashim Vashum stated that under Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) the work has been sanctioned.  He expressed immense gratitude to CM Biren and Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh for their concern in connecting the area with proper road. He also assured the villagers that he will convey the grievances of the villagers to the CM and the Works Minister so as the road improvement work will commence at the earliest and appeal the villages to extend maximum cooperation.

MLA Khashim Vashum also inspected the ongoing construction of Oxygen Plant inside the premise of Ukhrul District Hospital along with CEO of ADC-Ukhrul, Polly Makan and Additional SP of Ukhrul, Ringthing Hongchui.

MLA Khashim Vashum accompanied by Rev. VA. Ayo, Finance Secretary of TBCA and Themshang Horam, Education Secretary of TBCA also visited the Covid Care Centre, Transit Quarter, Phungreitang, Isolation Ward at Ukhrul District Hospital and CHIC at ITI Kasomtang and prayed for the health workers, patients and volunteers.
