Celebrated under the theme “The survival of human life on this planet depends on the survival of plants and animals life”, Ukhrul Forest Division, Government of Manipur organised the 72nd Van Mahotsav 2021 – Festival of Forests at Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul on Wednesday.
The celebration was attended by Ukhrul DC Joseph Pauline Kamsom as chief guest, DFO Ukhrul as functional president and Ukhrul SP Saujanya Singh as guest of honour. Additional DIG, HQ 10 Sector, Somsai, Col Dipankar Basu, SO1 (Communication) Col AS Mankoo, Additional SP Ringthing Hongchui, Additional SP Luther Nangsha, SDPO Ukhrul Thotreithing Chalamva, AE PHED Ukhrul, Themreishang Marei also attended the celebration.

Shanngam Shaliwo stated that today’s celebration will be an inspiration and motivation to citizens of Ukhrul District to protect and preserve and increase forest covers for the sustenance of mankind on this earth.
Various departments of Ukhrul District also participated in planting saplings of trees inside the Mini Secretariat Complex. The tree plantation drive will continue in various parts of Ukhrul District till the end of July, informed DFO Ukhrul.Attachments area
