Ukhrul along with the rest of the nation observed World AIDS Day at DRDA Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex, Ukhrul on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar attended the function as chief guest and CMO of Ukhrul, Dr. Kapangring A Shimray as guest of honour.
The observation programme was jointly organised by District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), MAC Staff of Ukhrul, NYK, AHANA, VIHAAN, LWS (SPYM), PASDO, CARE, NCPI+, I- TECH, Facility Centre and non TI and NGOs working in the field of HIV/AIDS related activities.
A Rally was flagged off by the chief guest from Gandhi Chowk to Mini Secretariat.
DACO of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, Dr. Yuithingla Vashum gave the welcome and keynote address. PLHIV widows share their testimony. Gifts were handout to PlHIVs by the chief guest and guest of honour.
COVID vaccination was also carried out side by side. Famed Tangkhul artists Ngathingpam Tangvah, Diana Wungsek, Yursari N Kasomwoshi and Thotsemphi Luithui presented beautiful numbers adding more colours to the observance.
