The Winter Games is organised to explore the sporting talents from Ukhrul and Kamjong districts and groom the players for the future.

Jointly organised by Ukhrul and Kamjong Olympic Associations, the first edition of Winter Games will be held on January 30 to February 4, 2023 at Ukhrul Headquarters.
Convenor, Organising Committee of Winter Games 2023, Preshow MK Shimray, former Deputy Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly and currently the elected President of Ukhrul Olympic Association stated that “the purpose of organising Winter Games is to explore the sporting talents from.Ukhrul and Kamjong districts and groom the players for participation in the forthcoming Manipur Olympic Games. While encouraging youngsters in various sports disciplines, we will also create avenues to participate in a higher level.”
Preshow MK Shimray appealed to the citizens of Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts to come, participate and showcase their skills for future posterity. The Organising Committee of Winter Games had a meeting today at Ukhrul Headquarters for finalizing the details of the programme for the upcoming events. The meeting was also attended by Khangampam Eshidang, Vice President of Kamjong Olympic Assocaition, along with Somipei Jajo and Kashung Mayonpam, Executive Members of Kamjong Olympic Association besides President and Secretary of various sport associations operating in Ukhrul District.
According to information given out by Organising Committee of Winter Games 2023, the following sports discipline will be played during the Winter Games: Football (Men’s), Volleyball (Men and Women’s), Basketball( Men’s and Women’s) Khokho (Men’s and Women’s), Badminton (Single – Junior Boys and Girls, Men’s and Women’s), Boxing (Sub Junior and Junior for Boys and Girls), Shooting Air Rifle 10m (Junior Boy’s and Girls, Men’s and Women’s), Archery (Junior Boys and Girls) Judo (Sub Junior and Junior Boys and Girls), Table Tennis (Single Men’s and Women’s) Taekwondo ( Sub Junior and Junior Boys and Girls) and Athletics.
Events under athletics are Javelin Throw, Shot Put, Discus Throw, High Junp, Long Jump, Triple Jump, Race (100m and 200m) and Relay (4x100m and 4x400m) for Men’s and Women’s.
Interested individuals or clubs can obtain the prescribed registration form, rules and regulations from the office situated within the premise of UDSA Office, Wino Bazaar, Ukhrul during office hour between 11:00am to 03:00pm. Forms have already been made available from 12 January. The last date of submission of forms is fixed on 25 January 2023.
