Two-day national workshop on ‘Research and Publication Ethics’ concludes

The two-day national workshop on “Research and Publication Ethics” organised by School of Education, Manipur University, Canchipur, Imphal held at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University concluded on Saturday. 

300 teachers and research scholars from JJT University, Rajasthan; JNU, Delhi; Sharda University, Noida; Manipur University of Culture, Imphal; Punjabi University; NEHU, Shillong; Delhi University; DMU, Imphal; Avinashilingam University, Coimbatore; DAVV, Indore and from various departments of Manipur University and 19 colleges from Manipur attended the workshop, according to a release. 

In the inaugural function on Friday, Prof Amar Yumnam, VC (i/c), Manipur University; Prof Vanlalngak, head, Department of Philosophy, NEHU, Shillong; Prof GA Shantibala Devi, dean, School of Life Sciences, MU; Prof S Mangi Singh, dean, School of Life Sciences, MU; Prof M Ranjit Singh, chairman, Institutional Human Ethics Committee, MU and Prof T Inaobi Singh, dean, School of Education, MU graced the function as chief guest, guests of Honour and president respectively. 

On the first day L Bishwanath Sharma, head, Department of Philosophy, MU delivered a lecture on “Ethics and its place in research”. Prof W Nabakumar Singh, (Retd) former dean, School of Human and Environmental Science, MU shared his valuable and insightful thoughts on “Research Integrity and Publication Ethics”. Prof Naorem Okendro Singh, head, Department of Basic Science, CAU, Iroisemba gave a presentation on “Design to Identify Research Misconduct and Predatory Publication”, according to the release. 

On the second day of the workshop, Dr Ch Ibohal Singh, head, Department of Library & Information Science, MU conducted a session on “Open Access Publications”. M Lokendro Singh, assistant librarian, MU shared practical knowledge on “Plagiarism”. The last speaker of the morning session, Prof S Dorendrajit Singh, Department of Physics, MU delivered a lecture on “Databases and Research Metrics”.

Valedictory Function of the two day workshop was graced by Prof RAS Kushwaha, dean, School of Human & Environmental Science, MU; Prof R K Hemakumar Singh, dean, School of Engineering, MU; Prof Laitonjam Warjeet Singh, director, Research & Development Centre, MU and Prof T Inaobi Singh, dean, School of Education, MU, Prof N Aruna Devi, dean, School of Humanities, MU as presidium members. 

Participants of the workshop also shared their experiences in the two day national workshop.
