The Thadou Students’ Association Sadar Hills, considering the celebration of Christmas, appealed to Kakai Singsit to take a break from his ‘Fast Unto Death’ strike during the festive season.

The student body said that though everyone could not join Kakai Singsit in his ‘Fast Unto Death’ stir, it touched and moved every heart that most of the people could no longer celebrate Christmas with peace of mind though Christmas is considered one of the biggest and significant festivals for the Christian community.

It continued that people understood the cause of Kakai’s extreme form of agitation and everyone morally supported him and some churches also prayed for him during the Christmas worship service.

The student body also said that the movement of Kakai would also become the awakening call for the people, especially among the tribal people, though the government seems to have taken his movement lightly till today.

It also said that from governor to the chief minister and ministers and MLAs poured out greetings on the auspicious occasion of Christmas but they failed to understand and see a family who could no longer celebrate the momentous occasion for the crime they had not committed and despite proven their innocence with evidence they had to endure the wrath of incompetency of the police department.

It further said that Kakai’s decision to take the extreme form of agitation is the right tool to fight such incompetency of the government and the concerned authority for which it gains more support day by day.

“It is very unfortunate and unexpected that the government seems to have no concern at all for Kakai and his family despite enduring tremendous hardships and grievances up to the extent that they are the only family who did not celebrate Christmas this year”, it added.

The student body pointed out that the Christmas celebration may take place but not as in the past year as many people could not celebrate the occasion with peace of mind and joy considering the condition of Kakai and his family.

Kakai’s ‘Fast Unto Death’ stir has quietened the mood of all Christmas goers as it wholly occupied our heart and mind and it is very much difficult to be in a celebratory mood when one of our brothers in Christ is suffering in a Fast Unto Death stir, it added.

It also maintained that Christmas is the time to sing and dance in celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and feast together with family and church members but it was not satisfactory this time as one family is crying and suffering the pain their children are enduring for the crime they are even not aware of it.

Considering the quietening spirit of the people, TSA Sadar Hills on humanitarian ground appealed to Kakai Singsit to take a break from his stir during this festive season as New Year Celebration is coming just a few days ahead so that all can celebrate and seek new blessings together.

“Let’s pray together, seek God’s blessing together and resume the fight with new vigor and enthusiasm after the festive season”, TSA Sadar Hills stated while adding that our humble appeal is purely on humanitarian ground and it should not be considered that the festival, though significant, is more important than the fight for justice.

It may be recalled that Kakai Singsit began his Fast Unto Death stir on December 20 demanding justice for his three family members put behind the bar allegedly for the crime they did not commit or even aware of it.
